Marina van de Merver

Marina started her career in the medical industry in 1982 initially involved in the marketing and sales of practice management software as well as training doctors and the administrative practice staff to use the software.

Over the past 20 years she has been actively involved in the electronic submission of claims; starting this part of her career as one of the founder members of the first company that pioneered EDI (electronic data interchange) in South Africa. Her career has seen EDI evolve into different electronic messages and submission of claims between healthcare professionals and the administrators, with the implicit goal of enhancing the administrative efficiencies at the customers businesses. These include practices, pharmacies, hospitals, pathology laboratories and radiology practices. Marina is a regional manager at MediSwitch, the largest HIE (Health Information Exchange) company in South Africa.
